Which direction is your fan moving? Most ceiling fans have two seasonal settings, and if your fan is still in “winter mode” you might be inadvertently warming the room. Make sure the fan blades are angled down when the fan turns counterclockwise to keep fresh, cool air moving.

Keep your cool by crafting a DIY cold compress. Add rice to a cotton sock, tie off the end, and freeze it. The rice will hold the chill for about 20 minutes. Keep one in the freezer for when you need to cool down in a flash or while you sleep.

Hang a wet sheet in front of an open window to cool the breeze flowing through your home.

Overheated? Apply an ice pack to your wrist for instant relief.
