As a wife and mother, McGinty has never forgotten the emotions that each new addition has brought to her life.
“When we had our son, the feelings were overwhelming,” she says. “We had this tiny person who was part of us and totally dependent on us, and, even though we were exhausted and scared, we were also so filled with love that our hearts could burst.”

• Re-prioritize. McGinty says insurance is essential for new parents. “From the moment you become a parent, your life is about your kids first. If something were to happen to you, it’s now about your dependents and making sure their quality of life is not affected by your absence.”
• Save big by acting quickly. Life insurance premiums are based on age and underwriting class, and newborns are the least expensive age group when it comes to life insurance because they are so young and their health status is generally flawless.
• Protect your child’s future. If you start a whole life insurance plan for your newborn, you are setting up his or her future by giving an asset that will grow in value and will remain in force for the child’s entire life.

“What I remember from early married life are feelings of excitement in building a life with my new partner and the comfort of having someone by my side through ups and downs,” McGinty says. Part of that is making sure you and your partner are protected for the future you are building together.
