5-Minute Vanilla Ice Cream

By Callie Leahy 5.27.15

Beat the heat this summer with a quick and simple frozen treat that is sure to please the entire family. In just five minutes, whip up a single serving of homemade vanilla ice cream using just four ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 can or 3.5 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
  • Pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Other things you’ll need:

  • Ice
  • Morton Ice Cream Salt
  • Gallon freezer bags
  • Pint or quart freezer bags (Makes one serving)
  1. To get started, place your pint- or quart-size freezer bags in a large glass, and fold back the opening of the bag to wrap around the glass to easily fill the bag without spilling.
  2. Then, combine milk, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla in a measuring cup and pour into your pint- or quart-size freezer bag and seal. For an added kick, add a pinch of cinnamon to your liquid mixture.
  3. Next, fill a gallon freezer bag about halfway with ice, cover with Morton Ice Cream Salt, and shake the bag so the salt falls evenly over the ice.
  4. Finally, put the sealed pint- or quart-size freezer bag inside the gallon freezer bag and seal. Now, shake the bags until the milk mixture hardens to a smooth, creamy consistency, which should take approximately 5 minutes. Once you’ve reached your ideal thickness, remove your ice cream bag from the ice/salt mixture and enjoy!
