Glow-in-the-Dark Kayak Tours

If you can’t bear the sun in the heat of the day, consider kayaking at night! The Crystal Kayak Glow Tour takes you down the beautiful San Marcos River after dark using translucent kayaks equipped with underwater LED lights. The result? An illuminated magnifying glass into the aquatic world beneath you, along with gorgeous views of the surrounding environment under the stars.

Each 75-minute tour is led and coordinated by an experienced guide, and keep in mind that kayakers must be at least 7 years old to participate. Life jackets and kayaking equipment are provided, but it’s recommended that you bring a swimsuit, bottled water, and a towel.

Embrace the night sky with a constellation tour at the Helen S. Martin Star Amphitheater in the McDonald Observatory, roughly 40 miles north of Marfa. The sky party runs for two hours and offers incredible telescopic viewing of celestial objects and constellations for the whole family. Reservations are required to secure your spot, and it’s recommended that you check the weather and dress appropriately, as the party takes place outdoors.
