Noteworthy Nativity Scenes
Nothing against the heirloom Nativity miniature on the mantle … but have you seen a 1,000-cast member production of the Nativity with flying angels? Make it a night of quiet wonder, or awe-inspiring grandeur, at these Nativity experiences across Texas.

Bethlehem Revisited
Waxahachie (Dec. 5–7, 12–14)
Instead of a single manger scene, this event drops you straight into ancient Bethlehem, bustling with a whole cast of characters: chatty shopkeepers, clergy, craftsmen, grunting camels, and braying donkeys. Visit Herod’s Court, then stay to watch Mary and Joseph’s arrival, and the procession of the magi. Dress warm, wear comfy shoes, and grab hot chocolate on the way in.

The Gift of Christmas
Plano (Dec. 5–7, 10–14)
Treat the family to a Broadway-caliber Nativity with a 1,000-member cast and choir, a 50-piece orchestra performing an original score, flying angels, live animals, and a massive LED video wall. For a production this big, plan ahead: Book early, allow time for parking, and consider a matinee for the young’uns.

A Night in Old Bethlehem
San Marcos (Dec. 4–6, 11–13)
Sights & Sounds of Christmas is a massive holiday festival, drawing thousands each year to enjoy carnival rides, a petting zoo, and play community “reindeer games.” But the quiet centerpiece of the event is A Night in Old Bethlehem — a volunteer-run living Nativity staged annually since 1987, alongside free activities and craft stations for kids.

The Wise Men Seek Him Nativity Display
Granbury (Dec. 5–14)
Slow down and savor a quiet wonder: 1,600 miniature Nativity scenes from around the world. Sponsored annually by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the display highlights how different cultures depict the first Christmas, including both traditional and creative interpretations.

Drive-Through Nativity
Kilgore (Dec.11–13)
Running since 1993, this East Texas tradition is extra accessible for grandparents, sleepy toddlers, and anyone who wants to take it easy. No parking hunt, no long walks, just you and your loved ones enjoying 13 lighted scenes featuring more than 150 cast members from the comfort of your own car. Roll past Santa’s workshop, Mrs. Claus’ kitchen, The Polar Express, singers and handbell ringers, the Nativity, and more.
