Time to banish the cold with a drink and a toast. Here are four ways to start.

Cranberry Fizz

Take a tart, pure cranberry juice and add pomegranate juice, fresh lime juice, and a splash of club soda. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and slices of lime. Voilà: punch for the whole family.

Traditional Eggnog

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without it. Gently whip cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and a dash of nutmeg. Cuddle up with a glass around the fire. Find the full recipe here.

Spiced Apple Cider

An all-American favorite. Steep with whole cinnamon sticks, a sprinkling of cloves, and slices of lemon and apple. Heat gently for a moreish winter warmer.

Kinderpunsch

A German classic: Start with 100 percent grape juice. Squeeze in the juice of two oranges and add honey to taste. Mull in a slow cooker and garnish with cinnamon sticks, star anise, and star-shaped orange-peel cutouts for a perfect party centerpiece.

Have a biscuit to go with it.
