How to Access Your Insurance Needs Remotely

As most day-to-day activities have shifted online due to the spread of this coronavirus, Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Agents have continued to assist policyholders while social distancing.

“We are all still here to serve you,” says Eryn Reedy, a Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Agent in Mineral Wells. “We are Texans serving Texas and taking care of our member families. No matter what you need.”

Agents understand that life doesn’t stop. So, Reedy has outlined four common insurance needs and how policyholders can get what they need remotely.

Contacting Your Agent

Aside from impromptu in-person visits, Reedy says getting in touch with your Agent shouldn’t change too much. Although Texas Farm Bureau Insurance offices have been closed to the public, many Agents are still working from their offices — or checking in often — to continue serving their members. Here are some other ways to reach your Agent:

• Phone and email: Your Agent is reachable via cellphone and office phone, as well as by email.
• Facebook. You can send your Agent a message through their official Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Facebook page.
• Video calls. If you prefer a “face-to-face” meeting, ask your Agent about setting up a Zoom or Skype call.

Filing a Claim

If you need to file a claim, there are four ways to get this done, Reedy says.

• Directly contact your Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Agent.
• Call toll-free: 800.266.5458.
• Go to the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance site. Reedy advises creating an account, if you haven’t already. You can view policy details, print ID cards, pay premiums, etc.
• Download the TXFB Insurance app.

Working With a Claims Adjuster

For best results, make yourself available to your assigned adjuster through phone or email after filing a claim, Reedy advises. For auto-related claims, your adjuster will often provide a time, date, and location for when they intend to examine your vehicle, making social distancing an easy feat. But it may take a specific, strategic conversation with your adjuster for a property-related claim. Share your concerns and needs with the adjuster during the initial call.

Paying Premiums

Texas Farm Bureau Insurance offers members several ways to pay their premiums. The quickest way to pay premiums is online. Insurance needs can be handled through the Texas Farm Bureau app or online.

• My TFBI account. You can also set up automatic payments here.
• Pay online without logging in. If you’re busy, you can make a one-time payment using your credit, debit, or checking/savings account.

Agents realize that some members may prefer more traditional payment methods, Reedy says. You may also pay:

• Over the phone. Have your credit card ready and call 866.658.9038. This is available 24/7.
• By snail mail. Send paper checks to your Agent’s office.
• “In person.” Call your Agent’s office to see if there’s a drop box.
